| GIFTED SCREENING AND INSTRUMENTS USED |
| 1. The screening instrument used for superior cognitive and creative thinking ability is the Otis-Lennon (OLSAT), Eighth Edition. Students who score one standard deviation above the mean minus the standard error of measurement (115) qualify for the identification process. 2. The students that make the specific cut off are then given the G.A.T.E.S (Gifted and talented evaluation scale. Those that score in the upper percent are recommended to the Challenge Program. 3. Screening for Visual or Performing Arts Ability is through nomination by art or music teachers, self, parent, peer, or other. 4. For special populations, the Leiter International Performance Scale, Revised, will be used by our psychologists. 5. Parents are notified and a permission form for identification assessment is mailed to the parents. 6. A parent/Student meeting is scheduled for those being recommended for the next school year. The parents make the final decision for enrollment after they have been thoroughly informed. |
